The Hotel

Ustedalen Hotell & Resort has undergone significant expansion and renovation over the past 10 years. The resort has perhaps Geilo`s best location. Sunny, close to the center and close to the best Geilo has to offer in summer and winter. The resort consists of 5 buildings ( A, B,C, D and Gullstein ) A is the main building with Reception, Restaurant Anno 2022, Dining room, lounge , bar, Fitness room, Solatium, swimmingpooland sauna. In the D building there is a 2-story parking facility.

The resort has 100 apartments and 64 hotel rooms ( 23 years of age limit ) The resort is located only 750 meters from Geilo Center   Check-in after 4:00 PM / Check -out at 11.00 AM. Earlier check-in and later check-out can be arranged for a fee.        
 

Our history

The hotel was build in 1880 by the owner of neighbor farm- Knut Fossgaard and rented out to the railway as a place of residence for the engineers during the building of the Bergen line. In 1909 ( shift of blame ) the building is sold to Elise and Einar Gramnes which gives a new name to the hotel, Ustedalen Turisthotell.

In January 1917 the engineer Aagenæs and proxy Haarberg travels to Geilo to inspect the small hotel- Ustedalen Turisthotell which is located 10 minutes walk from Geilo Train station. The hotels was one year beforehand bought by Norsk Hotellkompanis stifter and at that time the biggest shareholder- Alf Whist.

The hotel consisted of a old box in Schweitzer style. The purchase included 4 1/2 measure ground area and incuded fishing rights at Ustedalsfjorden. The hotel was taken over for a price of 22 500 kr. Director Whist gave a gift of 5000 kr thus the property was sold for 17 500 kr. On the neighbor farm below the hotel, the hotel rented 8 rooms with 16 beds and in the main hotel building it was 6 double guest rooms with 12 beds. The hotel was opened on 1 March same year. The pension price for the officials was 3 to 4 kr a day. If available private guest could also reserve a room. First managar on Ustedalen Hotell was John Eriksen. The salary was 100 kr a month plus a free stay at the hotel. In the winter 21st February 1918 there was a fire in the main building on the neighbor farm. Because of the lack of beds, it is decided to expand the hotel. The expansion started in 1919 and was delivered from the builder 1st December 1920. Since then, the hotel has expanded and renovated 6 times. In 1982 the hotel had 86 rooms until 2013. Today we have a total of 5 buildings ( A,B,C,D and Gullstein ) A total of 100 apartments and 64 hotel rooms .
